Numbers tell the story on safety, and Subaru has the top scores. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the insurance industry’s safety testing agency, has released its latest crash test results. They clearly illustrate why Subaru is a safety standout:
Nine Subaru models were named as Top Safety Pick + or Top Safety Pick choices – the two top categories. Subaru tied for the most awards earned by a single brand. Since 2013, Subaru has received 52 Top Safety Pick + awards, the most of any brand.* **
The Top Safety Pick + winners included the Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid, Subaru Forester, Subaru Legacy, Subaru Outback and Subaru Ascent.
The Top Safety Pick winners included the Subaru Crosstrek (equipped with EyeSight® and specific headlights); Subaru Impreza sedan, Impreza five-door (equipped with EyeSight® and specific headlights) and Subaru WRX (equipped with EyeSight® and specific headlights).
It’s impressive that each of these Subies have made the Top Safety Pick + or Top Safety Pick lists for multiple consecutive years!
The IIHS puts vehicles through six crashworthiness evaluations. To get one of the top designations a vehicle must achieve a “Good” rating in each of them, as well as a “Good” or “Acceptable” headlight rating, and an available front crash prevention rating of “Advanced” or “Superior” in both vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluation. The addition of “+” goes to vehicles that come exclusively with “Good” or “Acceptable” headlights.
