Subaru Crosstrek and Forester Named “Top Picks” by Consumer Reports | Schomp Subaru

Guess how many new vehicles you could choose from this year? 50? 100? Would you believe 260? How does a consumer ever begin to sort through that many to find the best one to buy?

Turn to the experts. For instance, the well-respected automotive testers at membership-supported Consumer Reports, who not long ago released their annual “10 Top Picks” list.

Not surprisingly, Subaru claimed two of the spots: the Subaru Crosstrek in the Subcompact SUV class, and the Subaru Forester in the Compact SUV class.

Consumer Reports’ Auto Test Center includes 327 acres with a six-mile, $1 million driving loop. The reviewers buy their cars anonymously from regular dealers and then run them through rigorous testing on multiple points, including performance, handling, seating, technology, safety, fuel efficiency and much more. 2024 Subaru Crosstrek

Even though it was redesigned for this model year, the subcompact Subaru Crosstrek SUV appears on this list for another year. Consumer Reports’ testers cited “evolutionary advancements,” including a better engine and transmission, modernized infotainment system and better safety features. Add excellent fuel economy, ride quality and good handling while not forgetting creature comforts like the roomy cabin, supportive seats and visibility. “This versatile vehicle is as well suited to urban errands as it is to weekend adventures,” the CR reviewers enthused. The 2024 Crosstrek is easy on the pocketbook, too, topping out under about $33,000.

2024 Subaru Forester

This is the compact SUV’s 11th – 11th!) appearance on Consumer Reports’ “Top Pick” list. Its distinctive boxy shape makes it appealingly roomy and easy to see all around. Its elevated ride height and generous amount of cargo-carrying space makes the 2024 Subaru Forester a popular choice for Colorado drivers. The reviewers liked its ride and handling, too. “This is a well-rounded small SUV that delivers, making it easy to recommend year after year.” The Forester is due for a redesign next year, but don’t be surprised if the new Forester continues to be one of CR’s Top Picks.
